Halfdan E, is one of Denmark’s premier and most sought-after film composers and divides his time between beautiful Copenhagen and cutting-edge London.
With an immediately recognisable signature style of fusing contemporary electronica and sweeping orchestra, delivering emotion, space and texture, Halfdan has scored in excess of 35 features and 10 tv series.
2025 will see the premier of Netflix Original series SECRETS WE KEEP ('Reservatet'), on which he collaborated, for the sixth time, with director Per Fly. Their previous collaborations resulting in multiple Academy Awards for both. Halfdan continues to deliver the music for the ever-popular Danish series BADEHOTELLET now in its 10th season, and earlier high-end credits include action fantasy drama series RAGNAROK, crime series BELOW THE SURFACE and Finnish feature IHMISEN OSA.
Halfdan first burst onto the international film & tv world with his iconic music for all 3 seasons of political drama BORGEN - a series that correctly claims to have ignited the global hunger for Scandinavian-influenced drama - and was once hailed by ‘US Newsweek’ as The Best Political Show Ever. In 2017 Halfdan delivered and award-worthy score for BBC1's highly acclaimed, psychological thriller APPLE TREE YARD, directed by Jessica Hobbs for Kudos Film & TV, starring BAFTA winning actor Emily Watson and Ben Chaplin.
Always keen to experiment with musical output, n Halfdan teamed up with the Danish poet Dan Turèll, and together they recorded 2 hit albums, winning 2 Danish Emmys.
Halfdan is the chairman of the Danish Guild of Media Composers BFM, and plays a vital leadership role in the Nordic Film Composers’ Network.
He proudly cares about his family with three children, a cat and a dog and, as you would expect from our Danish friend, travels by bike at every opportunity and takes ice baths whenever time allows.

March 2025 'Dialogpolisen' (The Dialogue Police) - a documentary about the renowned swedish peacekeeping force, premieres at festivals all over the known universe.
March 2024 'Badehotellet' (The Seaside Hotel) has just finished its 10th season, one third of the entire danish population following it and rave reviews coming in..
September 2020 and finally the soundtrack from the series 'Below the Surface II' is released.

January 2020 Finally, after a loong time in the making, the Netflix Original series 'Ragnarok', created by Adam Price and shot in Norway and Denmark, is out. We're so proud of this work, and looking forward to meeting the world in 192 countries and 32 different languages.
